Learn more about Costumes for Care and how you can help!
What is Costumes for Care?
Costumes for Care is a community program that collects and provides free Halloween costumes for children in Paulding County's foster care system. Our goal is simple: we want to make sure every child gets to pick out a costume, dress up, and enjoy the fun of the holiday. The program is a special project of the Paulding Social Services Committee, which handles everything from gathering donations to getting the outfits directly to the kids and families who need them.
How does the Halloween Costume Boo-Tique work?
The Halloween Costume Boo-Tique is designed to give children and families a fun, bootique style shopping experience without the price tag. Here is how it works from donation to dressing up:
- We collect new and gently used costumes from the community throughout the late summer and early fall.
- We set up a pop-up shop where everything is clean, organized by size, and displayed just like a real retail store.
- Foster families visit the boutique during designated hours to browse the selection.
- Children choose their favorite costume, complete with accessories, and take it home entirely for free.
Who is eligible to shop the Halloween Costume Boo-Tique?
Our boutique is specifically designed to bring extra holiday joy to children currently placed in the foster care system right here in Paulding County. By focusing our resources on local foster families, we can make sure every child in our county's system gets the opportunity to visit the shop, find a perfect fit, and celebrate a magical Halloween.
How can I participate or donate?
There are plenty of ways to help, from donating new or gently used costumes to volunteering your time at theBoo-Tique! For a full list of donation drop-off locations, current wish lists, and volunteer sign-ups, please visit our Get Involved page.
What types of costumes do you accept?
We love receiving new or gently used costumes that are appropriate for children ages 13 and under!
To make sure every child gets a costume they can wear with pride, we ask that all donations are clean, free of rips or tears, and include all of their major pieces. A good rule of thumb to follow is: would you be happy giving this to a friend? If the answer is yes, we would love to have it!
Can I donate money instead?
Yes! Financial donations are incredibly helpful because they allow us to purchase specific sizes or highly requested costumes that weren't donated. You can make a secure financial gift directly through our [COMING SOON] page.
